this takes bedroom fun to a whole new level

because the kama sutra just doesn't list enough positions to assume in bed, now there's a Twister duvet cover bed sheet in double king-size & single...

oh, and by the way, this is completely safe for work - though the product exists, the innuendo above is entirely the creation of my dirty mind...

and a hero is born

y'know, it's not too often you hear about something really weird that has a happy ending, but today boingboing carried a story about how a Large catfish attempts to swallow small basketball... boingboing, however, used a picture of the fish stuck at the surface of the water - now that's certainly a good picture, but it kinda makes me uncomfortable to look at because i imagine a fish with a basketball caught in it's mouth and stuck at the surface of the water because of the ball's bouyancy is probably suffering... and i hate to see an animal (or a person) suffer.. better to use a picture of someone being a hero and helping the poor fish out...

now that's tiny

i've seen some small computers in my time, but picotux really takes the cake...

yes, that big hole in the front really is an ethernet port... some people put their desktop apps, wallpaper, etc on usb flashdrive so they can take all their stuff with them - now they can fit an entire computer in their pocket (and it won't even make them look like they're happy to see you)...

apparently my athletic karma has been passed on to another..

i've had some rather spectacular things happen to me (usually it was to me, but sometimes it was the people who were unlucky enough to be near me, or on my team, etc) when i played sports but thankfully i never had my hands and foot cut off when the wall supporting the basketball backboard collapsed during a slam dunk...

probably because i never executed a slam dunk... probably for the best that i didn't, then, because it's obviously very dangerous for some of us...

"Is this the real thing?" - no it's not

but it's very, very good...

so apparently demolition is my new passion...

...new??!?... ok, whatever...

you gotta love griffin technology... they'll send you a replacement product so long as you provide photographic proof that you destroyed the defective unit they're replacing... i want to go get some of their products right now just so i can find one that's busted and test out their replacement policy like this person did with their Project: Annihilation...

and yes, there is a movie showing the final moments of the product in question...

ah kakakaka

it's popeye the solar house,

roadside refuse retasked

ahhh... alliteration, what fun... but is it as fun as making Hubcap Creatures? i don't think i'll ever know, frankly i don't see many orphaned hubcaps when i drive so making found art out of them is not really an option for me...

fasionably late robot

apparently these Self-assembling machines were too busy pulling themselves together yesterday to be part of my robot roundup... oh well, they're here now and that's what really matters...

robot roundup

get along little robot... it's raining robot articles today - first there's still more japanese goodness with robot security guards...

then radio shack comes up with robot kits...

but my favourite has to be PhysOrg: Snake-like robot conquers obstacles

cross this with some of that self-replicating robotic technology they're working on and we could have a passable version of that old snakes game except we'd be playing in real life...

ahhhhh... more demolition...

what else needs be said?... come on, Solar Death Ray speaks for itself...

ok, who watched Earth: Final Conflict?

you remember those neat communication devices they had? the ones that looked a bit like big cell phones until they pulled one side out and out slid a nice big screen... you don't remember? well at least i know i'm not the only one who saw them because lookie here, they're finally going to be made for real...

how lazy are americans?

you might have thought that hardcore chair represented the height of laziness, but you'd be wrong...

imagine a task so trivial that you completely take it for granted... now invent something with the sole purpose of making sure that you never have to perform that task again... that's what we have with the Motorized Ice Cream Cone (US Patent # 5,971,829) whose sole purpose is to relieve you of the burden of manually turning the ice cream cone while you eat the ice cream...

industrial shredders

y'know, i was once asked by my boss to think about what kind of direction i'd like to go in work-wise (i was and am a software developer)... my answer was immediate - "i like to make things and i like to break things"...

guess what, that doesn't just apply to software... and while making things with my own two hands has it's rewards, there's still something missing... i think it's demolition...

so what do i find today? Industial Shredding Demonstration Videos... watch it eat a steel drum full of cement, or a couch... watch it eat computer's whole (very satisfying)... heck, watch it eat a boat...

oh those wacky japanese (i think) folks

ok - first, this is absolutely not safe for work... don't watch the video if you're at work or you'll probably get fired...

i'm attributing this to the japanese because they come up with some of the craziest (and often some of the coolest) inventions and because the controls on this sort of remind me of the control panels i've seen in photos of their toilets (yes they're toilets are so advanced they qualify as cool gadgets) but this one is actually kind of silly... this Hardcore chair takes all the work out of sex... you don't have to move at all, this piece of furniture does practically everything for you...

i'm sure somewhere in japan someone's working on a robot to deal with certain post-coital demands as well... because replacing human to human interaction with robot to human interaction is another thing they seem to be keen on...

wait a sec - just where is all this heading?

i've lost all respect for queen and country...

you know knighthood doesn't mean a gosh darned thing anymore when Bill Gates getting knighted...

knights are supposed to be noble, honourable folks... we're supposed to be able to look at them and believe that we ourselves can be better people... how the heck does Bill Gates qualify?
